School Counselor at Kågeskolan
Do you want to be the trusted adult that students turn to when life gets tough? Are you driven to create a school environment where children and young people feel safe, seen, and motivated to learn? Then you could be our new school counselor at Kågeskolan.
With us, you will play an important role in the students' everyday lives. Through conversations, preventive work, and close collaboration with colleagues, you contribute to ensuring that every student receives the right support at the right time. Together, we work towards a school where health, safety, and learning are interconnected.
YOUR ROLE
As a school counselor, you are part of the school's student health team and work proactively, preventively, and remedially with students' psychosocial health. You meet students in individual conversations and in groups, support them in difficult situations, and are a key part of the work on safety, attendance, and equal treatment.
You collaborate with teachers, school management, and other professionals in student health to create good learning environments. The role also includes contact with guardians and collaboration with external actors when necessary. You are present in the school's everyday life, catch signals early, and contribute your expertise in student health meetings and development work.
The work is both independent and relationship-oriented – and you have good opportunities to influence how support for students is shaped.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. You have good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish and can adapt your message according to the audience's needs.
Experience in student health and knowledge of conversation methodologies, such as solution-focused approaches or MI, is an advantage. Good knowledge of English is also beneficial.
As a person, you are structured and plan your work so that interventions are followed up and sustained over time. You are creative and find solutions when new needs arise. You are considerate, attentive, and build trust in your interactions with students and adults. At the same time, you are collaborative and enjoy working closely with colleagues to find solutions that benefit the students' overall school situation.
YOUR NEW WORKPLACE
Kågeskolan is located ten kilometers north of Skellefteå, on the outskirts of Kåge center, with proximity to both nature and sports fields. This provides excellent opportunities to work health-promoting and to use the school's surroundings as part of the students' everyday lives.
The school is a F–9 school with approximately 500 students and over 60 staff members in educational roles. Adjacent to the school are a library, sports hall, youth center, and a nearby sports field.
As an employee of Skellefteå municipality, you will have a secure employer with good opportunities for professional development and collegial learning. We work with trust and professional responsibility, where your competence is valued and makes a difference – every day.
GOOD TO KNOW
We recruit based on competence and focus on your experience, knowledge, and potential. Instead of a personal letter, you will answer some selection questions and attach an updated CV. Psychological tests are used as part of the recruitment process.
